Jan Fields is an American business executive. She is known as the President of McDonald's Restaurants. She has been recognized by ''Forbes Magazine'' as one of the most powerful women in the world. == Professional background == She started her career as a crew member at a McDonald's restaurant in 1978, and worked her way up the organisation through the management chain. She served as president and senior vice president of McDonald’s Central Division, senior vice president in the former Southeast Division and regional vice president of the Pittsburgh region. She was then appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, where she oversaw the operations of the 14,000 U.S. McDonald’s restaurants. She was appointed President of McDonald's USA in 2010. In August 2012, she was recognized as the 88th most powerful woman in the world by ''Forbes Magazine'',〔 as well as being awarded the Women Operators Network Recognition Award and the Women’s Leadership Award.〔 On November 15, 2012, Fields announced she is stepping down after two years on the job, following a decision made by senior management. Fields will depart December 1, 2012, and will be replaced by Jeff Stratton, currently McDonald’s global chief restaurant officer. Fields serves on the boards of Monsanto, the Chicago Urban League, and United Cerebral Palsy.
